Zoho CloudSQL

Roadmap

Wider Adoption across Zoho:

Currently Zoho Reports (previously known as Zoho DB & Reports) supports Zoho CloudSQL (link). Zoho CloudSQL will soon be adopted across all Zoho Services that offer structured data for manipulation and querying, including Zoho CRM, Zoho Creator etc.,.

Also one of the possible future extensions of CloudSQL is to include a Universal JDBC/ODBC Connector (or Driver) for all the Zoho Service. This would enable developers to just load the Universal JDBC/ODBC driver in their application and interface with any of the Zoho service without the need to load specific drivers for each Zoho Service.

Also the CloudSQL federation logic (refer Zoho CloudSQL Architecture) allowing seamless query execution across multiple Zoho Services and aggregation of results is a functionality that would be taken up in the future.

Zoho CloudSQL and other Non-Zoho Web Cloud Services:

Zoho CloudSQL enables you to query the data in the Zoho Service Cloud using standard SQL. This technology could possibly be extended to enable SQL querying across the various Cloud Services available in the Web (refer Zoho CloudSQL Architecture). This could be achieved by extending the middleware layer of Zoho CloudSQL, which could handle the SQL interpretation, federation and the interfacing with the respective Non-Zoho Web Cloud Service.

Providing CloudSQL interface for the greater Web Cloud Services is an idea that we would like to pursue in the future. This would really provide an integrated/federated SQL access layer for the greater Web Cloud, thus being a great productivity enabler for the entire development community on the Cloud.
